UNICEF Rwanda Is Hiring: RISE Programme Officer (National UN Volunteer), Kigali 2026

UNICEF Rwanda is recruiting a RISE Programme Officer under the National UN Volunteer (NUN) modality. Based in Kigali, the role focuses on helping out-of-school young people in Rwanda get a second chance to learn and build skills. If you have a degree, a few years of experience, and a real interest in education, this is worth a serious look.

The deadline is 29 October 2026.

About the Opportunity

RISE stands for Resilience in Secondary Education. The programme supports young people who have dropped out of school or never had the chance to finish, and helps them get back into learning and gain skills for life and work.

The position is offered through UN Volunteers (UNV) in partnership with UNICEF Rwanda. It’s a volunteer assignment, so it’s a good way to gain hands-on experience inside the UN system while contributing to a cause that matters.

Job Summary

  • Organization: UNICEF Rwanda, with UNV
  • Position: RISE Programme Officer
  • Category: National UN Volunteer
  • Duty station: Kigali, Rwanda (UN premises)
  • Duration: 12 months, full-time
  • Expected start date: 9 November 2026
  • Application deadline: 29 October 2026

Who Can Apply

The position is open to Rwandan nationals and legal residents in Rwanda.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Fluency in English

Who This Role Suits

This could be a strong fit if you’ve worked in education, youth development, social programmes, or planning and monitoring, and you want to be part of work that gives young people a real path forward. Graduates with a few years of field or programme experience should read the full announcement carefully and see how their background lines up.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the UN Volunteers application portal at app.unv.org.
  2. Create an account or log in to your existing profile.
  3. Search for the RISE Programme Officer position with UNICEF Rwanda.
